It is sad to see how the small munchkins are busy playing on phones, laptops or just being busy in peer pressure of being modernized. A play is almost going off from their lives being digitally involved in electronics. But we need to understand why Play is important.
 
So, do you know what is play?
 
Play or say Playing is basically a physical or mental activity devoid of any specific purpose other than playing.
 
You can call it as the universal language that children love to communicate with each other and it enhances their imagination to design/think of games and play way methods to connect to their world.
 

3 reasons why the Play should be allowed

  • Play lays the ground for literacy –
 
Through play, children learn and practice new sounds. They try to invent new words in their own language. They also discover their imagination through play.
 
  • Play promotes all kind of development –
Through role plays and reading games, a child is able to develop their cognitive ability also known as intellectual and mental development.
 
For example, if they play doctor role set, they will learn about doctor, medicine and related things.

Socioemotional development –

Playing with friends or even parents a child is able to connect emotionally with their playmates which develops their social and emotional connection.
 

Physical development –

It includes both fine motor and gross motor development.
Fine motor includes fine finger movement, hand-eye coordination, hand – hand coordination etc., whereas gross motor means running, hopping, and moving in response to rhythm.
 
  • Play helps them to be expressive –
They grow to be expressive by their favorite game or toy or playmate. A playmate can be a kid of same age or a neighbor or even either of the parent.
 
They also learn to express their happiness during play. Anger or sadness due to acts which they don’t like.
 

Do you know what is Play way method of education ?

It is teaching a child through play. For example teaching them about animals through story role play, spelling games, flash card games to teach alphabet or numbers, dough rolling, personal hygiene through doll cleaning play etc.
 
So by now you must be aware why play is important. Be a little kid with the child as play is a necessity not an option.
