Answer ( 1 )

  1. In chemistry, there is no entity like NH2 only. It either exists as a positive ion or negative ion.

    In both the cases, hybridization will be different.

    Hybridisation can be find out by the formula 1/2 (V + M – C + A)

    V = number of valence electron in central atom.

    M = No of monoatomic atom connected to central atom.

    C = Cationic Charge and A = Anionic Charge.

    In case of NH2+

    Hybridisation = 1/2(5+2-1) = 3 = Sp2

    In case of NH2-

    Hybridisation = 1/2(5+2+1) = 4 = Sp3
