A Journey From The Known To The Unknown.
MEDIA RESEARCH
It is an objective and systematic identification, analysis, dissemination, collection and use of information for the investigation and inquiry of problems and attaining possible solutions.
Clifford Woody defined research as, “defining and redefining problems, formulating a hypothesis or suggested solutions; collecting, organizing and evaluating data; making deductions and reaching conclusions; and finally, carefully testing the conclusions to determine whether they fit the formulating hypothesis”.
FLOW CHART TO PREPARE A RESEARCH REPORT
FLOW CHART OF A RESEARCH PROCESS/ STEPS INVOLVED IN A RESEARCH PROCESS:
RESEARCH INVOLVES:
- Specification of the information required to address various issues.
- Designing the methods for collecting information.
- Managing and implementing the data collection process
- Analysing the results.
- Communication the findings and their implications.
SIGNIFICANCE OF RESEARCH:
- Research inculcates scientific and inductive thinking.
- Promotes logical thinking and habits.
- Provides basis for nearly all government policies in our economic system
- Research has its special significance in solving various operational and planning problems of business and industry.
- It is an aid to decision making.
- It creates relations between variables.
- Important for social scientists in studying social relationships and in seeking answers to various social problems.
- It provides a base for innovation.
- It helps in the process of thinking, analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of various situations.
CRITERIA FOR A GOOD RESEARCH:
- The purpose should be clearly defined.
- Common concepts should be used that can be understood by all.
- The procedure should be explained in detail.
- A research design should be carefully planned.
- The researcher should declare all the possible errors and their possible impacts on findings.
- Analysis of data should be sufficiently adequate to reveal significance.
- The validity and reliability of data should be checked carefully.
- A researcher should have a good command over the research methodology and should be intelligent and experienced.
LIMITATIONS OF RESEARCH:
- It is based on sample research and sampling lacks complete accuracy.
- Long process.
- Trained personnel are required.
- Lack of knowledge always leaves a negative impact on the findings.
