What is Hotel Management?
Hotel management is the area of managing all the operational aspects of hotels by hoteliers and or you can also be a part of a management team in any company. It is widely divided into four different departments.

The four main departments and designations for hotels are mentioned below.
Food production:
As the name suggests, food production is related to producing or preparing food. It includes all the chefs the hotel department, i.e., entirely related to the manufacturing of food. It has a specific hierarchy that specifies designation and work flow of the particular department.

Food & Beverages Service (F&B service) / Food Production Service:
This department is all about managing the serving of food items and beverages to the customers. No manufacturing is included. The main aim is to achieve customer satisfaction.

Housekeeping:
Housekeeping is related to sanitary services, i.e., all the cleaning of every part of the hotel comes under this department.

Front Office:

The concierge is also a part of Front Office, but not the part of the hierarchy.

National Institute of Fashion and Technology (NIFT):

B.Des. (Fashion Design)

B.Des. (Leather Design)
With this program, Students can opt for the career in Leather industry, the options are like Merchandising, Product Development, Retail, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and many other areas.

With this program, Students can opt for the career options like Designers, Product Managers, Visual Merchandisers, and Entrepreneurs in broad areas of precious and costume jewellery, giftware, watches, leather goods, footwear, handicrafts and lifestyle products within the specialization offered at different centers.

B.Des. (Textile Design)
The program prepares students to pursue careers In Design Studios, Textile Mills and Export Houses, Mills, with Fashion Designers, Handloom Cooperatives, Buying Houses and Buying agencies as Design Fabric Managers or work independently as Entrepreneurs or Designers.
B.Des. (Knitwear Design)
The careers are as Designers, Merchandisers, Creative Managers, Production Managers, and Entrepreneurs.
B.Des. (Fashion Communication)
In this course, the students acquires communication skills for Lifestyle and Fashion Industry. Â Five exit levels are envisaged overall: Graphic Design, Visual Merchandising and Retail Space Design, Styling and Photography, Fashion Journalism, PR/Events & Fashion Advertising.
M.Des. (Master of Design)
The graduates from this programme would become innovators in the field of fashion and textiles as well as communication design, holding key positions in large fashion and corporate houses.
The employment opportunities also include trend predicting and forecasting, fashion styling, design and management of fashion brands, etc. The graduates will be able to make contributions in Research and Development through their work in Government and private agencies. They can also become scholars and contribute to the teaching community, or find themselves placed as entrepreneurs running their own studios.
National Institute of Design (NID):
NID comprises all design related courses from types of Interior design to different Fashion Design courses. Though, the fashion field particularly is covered a little less than the NIFT, but everything is covered within these courses.
