  1. Skill India initiative or pradhanmantri kaushal Vikas yojana, was launched on 15th July 2015 that aims to train over 40 CR people in India in different skills by 2022. Actually, kaushal Vikas yojana is just a part of skill India initiative. This initiative also includes national skill development mission, national policy for skill development and entrepreneurship and skill loan scheme.The govt’s flagship scheme, PMKVY, will incentivise skill training by providing financial rewards to candidates who successfully complete approved skill programs.This training was initiated in 1000 centers across all over India covering 50k youth in 100 job roles across 25 sectors.Through an initiative known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), 10 lakh youths will be assessed and certified for the skills they already possess.Under the skill loan scheme, loans ranging from rs 5000 to 1.5 lakhs will be made available to 34 lakh youth seeking to attend skill development program over the next five years.Across the country, 2.33 lakh youths were awarded certificate from ITI and over 18000 graduating students received job offer letters on the occasion of the world youth skills day.

    Some additional points regarding jobs they provide-

    1. Oracle on 12th Feb 2016 announced that they would launch an initiative to train more than half a million students each year to develop computer science skills by 3xpanding its partnerships to 2700 institutions in India from 1700 at present.

    2. Japan’s private sector is to set up six institutes of manufacturing to train 30000 people over 10 years in japanise style manufacturing skills and practices, primarily in rural areas. The first three institutes would be set up in Gujrat, Karnataka, and Rajasthan in the summer of 2017.

    3. In the budget of the fiscal year 2017-18, the GOI has decided to set aside rs 17000 crores, the highest ever allocation to this sector, in order to boost the skill India mission. Also, the govt. has invested Rs. 4000 crore in the launch of SANKALP (Skill Acquisition Awareness for Livelihood Promotion Programme), another big initiative under skill India mission.

    4. As of Feb 2016, the ‘Indian Leather Development Programme’ trained 51216 youths in a span of 100 days. Four new branches of footwear design and development at Hyderabad, Patna, Banur (Punjab) and Ankleshwar (Guj) are being set up to improve training infrastructure.
