My gen. rank in jee main 2017 is 76731 and obc rank is 20607. which colleges i can get through this rank

    Both your rank will be considered at the time of seat allotment. You can get some NITs (Not top NIT) too in later stage of counselling. Most probably, You’ll get a seat through OBC quota (rank).

    There is a very simple algorithm for seat allotment to a reserved category student. The student gets the seat of his choice according to the rank which is (relatively) better.

    For example, you got an AIR of 70,000 and category rank of 20000. you apply for CSE at some college. Now, the system will see first if you can get CSE at that college with his AIR (70000). If you can’t, then the system re-checks using your category rank(20000). The seat allotted using AIR belongs to the 50.5% quota, while the seat allotted using category rank belongs to the %age quota of that particular category.

    If a seat under that category is available, then he is allocated that seat, otherwise, he is added to the waiting list, or his next preference is considered. This process is repeated till:

    Once you are allotted a seat.The choice list comes to an end. This procedure is followed in both JoSAA.
