Technology Advancement in Medical Science

There was a time when the death rate was high due to the consequences of lack of better medical options before some decades. Especially, it was seen that the infant death rate was exceptionally high and people have to strive a lot for a baby which can even attain an age of 10 or more years.

Diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, tuberculosis, jaundice, plague etc. were very highly prevalent among the infants as well as adults. Cases of polio were registered very high. Sometimes it was also seen that even whole villages became graveyard because of epidemics.

The main reasons for these were

  • Lack of medical techniques
  • Lack of awareness and misconception among people for diseases.

Plague was also among one of these diseases which was transmitted by rats and it took the face of epidemic in Europe during 1928 however, thanks to researchers and doctors for this healthy science and the advancements made by them in the field of medical science, so that we have better living condition and better treatment options for various epidemics and serious diseases compared to last some decades.

These days, the death rate has been significantly lowered due to collective efforts of doctors and researchers towards improving the treatment methods as well as technologies. Diagnosis of a disease is simpler now.

If we take a look at the technologies of a few decades earlier, doctors were restricted with the diagnostic techniques. They were suffering from the lack of instruments and methodologies to examine a disease which resulted in the false diagnose of diseases or fails to diagnose the disease and hence resulted in death.

Some of the technologies were available in developed and rich countries like USA, Europe but for developed countries like India, Sri Lanka, African Countries these advanced technologies were not easily available because of the high cost. But these advanced technologies are also available at cheaper rates at every place on earth.

Some of the advancements in medical technology are

  1. Cancer Nano therapy
  2. Brain Machine Interface
  3. Genome Editing
  4. Use of mobile technology
  5. Sensors and wearable technologies
  6. New Generation medicines
  7. Use of Robots

Biotechnology, cellular biology, microbiology, environmental science all these fields have better research and analysis technologies and experimental tools which help in improving medical technologies.

If we talk biologically, we have test tube babies, organ transplants, genetic imaging of DNA, radiotherapy which are a few milestones of the advanced technologies in the medical area.

Now, the infertile couple can have babies of their own, can even control the disease at the genetic level, and many cancer cases are also cured successfully.

Career: – With the advancement of technologies in the medical area, there are much better career options in this field. Not only doctor, but there are other equally important fields too which includes research and paramedical.

Paramedical: – This is another core branch under the sector of medical techniques, X- ray technology, radiology, scanning, imaging, lab technologies etc. are the major areas.

Research: – Research field in medical includes a very vast area which includes Biotechnology, Nano-medical science, genetic science, Biomedical Science, Forensics, physiotherapy etc.
