    Answer – SO2

Acid rain or acid deposition is a broad term that includes and form of precipitation with acidic components such as suplhur or nitric acid that fall on the ground from the atmosphere. Thus Acid rain includes rain, snow, fog or hail  or even dust that is acidic. Acid Rain results when sulphur di oxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide are emitted into the atmosphere and transported by wind and air currents.
